Latest neighbourhood priorities for London Colney, St Stephen and St Albans East

What have we been doing to tackle the issues that you identified as being of concern? What are the new priorities for London Colney, St Stephen and St Albans East?

Neighbourhood priorities have now been set for the next four months. These issues will be given extra attention by your local Neighbourhood Policing Teams, working alongside district partners to focus on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, theft, speeding and drug-related crime.

Alongside the NPT, the district is also policed by officers who respond to emergency calls, a team of detectives who investigate crimes such as burglary, robbery and assault, and specialist units who work to tackle issues such as acquisitive crime and domestic abuse. In addition, they can call on officers from central teams which work countywide.

This was a previous neighbourhood priority and has been reinstated following an increase in reports of ASB in the area.

We will continue high-visibility and covert police patrols at the college and surrounding roads and deal with any incidents appropriately whether that is words of advice, community resolutions or arrest.

We continue to work closely with the college and local residents.

You said: Tackle anti-social behaviour and drug use in The Camp, including Aldwick Court, Cunningham playing fields, Cell Barnes Lane and Highfield Park.

We did:

Conducted regular targeted and high-visibility foot patrols across the Camp, including stop checks with young people linked to anti-social behaviour, nuisance riding, vehicle crime and drug use in Thirlmere Drive, Buttermere Close, Keswick Close, Richard Stagg Close, Camp Playing Fields, Dellfields, New House Park, Hill End Lane and Highfield Park.

Arrested a wanted offender (for failing to appear in court on 6 Sept) during proactive patrols; arrested and charged teenagers for stealing and riding a stolen motorcycle from Napsbury found in the Alban Way; arrested a robbery suspect.

Three people identified and spoken to after a stolen motorcycle from Dell fields was recovered in Lycaste close.

Identified and disrupted suspected drug-related activity in and around Richard Stagg Close, Thirlmere Drive, Buttermere Close and Keswick Close.

Worked alongside local residents and councillors to support the installation of CCTV overlooking camp playing fields and the gazebo area to deter drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

Responded to reports of nuisance and dangerous riding involving e-bikes, e-scooters and Sur-Ron style motorcycles. Words of advice and warning of potential vehicle seizure.

You said: Tackle vehicle related anti-social behaviour at Starbucks and the A414 North Orbital Road.

We did:

Work continues to address the long-term priority of anti-social driving by Starbucks and the A414 working with partner agencies including the Police and Crime Commissioner, who has funded acoustic monitoring cameras.

The number of calls has reduced following regular patrols.

Warning letters will be sent out followed by enforcement action using Section 59 powers to seize vehicles being driven anti-socially, above the noise threshold.

Whilst there will be a focus on the local priorities, we will continue to respond to daily business as usual, as well as force wide priorities and any emerging issues which require more immediate action.
